Terms of service
The fine print, set legibly.
What you agree to when you design a card, export a file, or order a print run from us.
Effective 1 January 2026 · Cardsmith Studio AB, Stockholm
01
Who these terms cover
These terms are an agreement between you and Cardsmith Studio AB, Kungsgatan 12, 111 35 Stockholm, Sweden ("Cardsmith", "we"). They apply whenever you use the Cardsmith design tool, export a print-ready PDF, or order printed cards from us. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the service.
02
The service
The design tool. The editor is free to use. You pick a layout, enter your details, and see a live preview. No account or subscription is required.
PDF export. Exporting a print-ready PDF is free. The file is yours to print anywhere — there is no watermark, lock-in, or obligation to order from us.
Print orders. We print on 350gsm uncoated stock in matte finish, with an optional spot-gloss upgrade, and ship from Stockholm, typically within 5 business days of confirming your order.
03
Ordering and payment
Online checkout is not yet available. Orders are confirmed by email: you send us your design (or reference your editor session), we confirm the run, price, and delivery estimate, and the order becomes binding when we send you a written confirmation and invoice. Prices shown on the site (such as "100 cards, matte finish — $34") are indicative and confirmed in the order email, including shipping. Invoices are payable before the run is printed unless we agree otherwise in writing.
04
Your content and proof approval
Everything you type into the editor stays yours. By ordering, you give us permission to reproduce your design solely to print, quality-check, and ship your run. You are responsible for having the rights to any names, marks, or content on your card, and for making sure it is lawful.
The live preview is your proof. We print exactly what it shows, so please check spelling, phone numbers, and email addresses before ordering — we can't catch a typo in a name we've never met. Errors that appear in your approved design are not defects.
05
Reprints, defects, and cancellations
- Every run is checked by hand before it ships. If your cards arrive with a print defect — misregistration, colour shift, bad trim, damaged stock — email us a photo within 14 days of delivery and we will reprint the run or refund it, your choice.
- Because every run is printed to order with your personal details, the standard EU right of withdrawal for distance sales does not apply to customised goods. You can cancel any time before we start printing.
- Minor variation between screen preview and printed colour is inherent to print (screens are backlit; paper is not) and is not a defect.
06
Acceptable use
Don't use the tool or our press to produce cards that impersonate someone else, infringe someone's trademark or copyright, or contain unlawful, deceptive, or hateful content. We may decline or cancel any order that does, with a full refund of anything already paid. Don't attempt to disrupt, scrape, or reverse-engineer the service.
07
Our intellectual property
The Cardsmith name, site, editor, and the six layout designs belong to Cardsmith Studio AB. Cards you design and export are yours to use freely — including printing them elsewhere — but you may not resell the layouts themselves as templates or rebuild the tool from them.
08
Liability
The design tool and PDF export are provided as-is, without warranty that they will be uninterrupted or error-free. For print orders, our total liability is limited to the price of the affected run — in practice, a reprint or a refund. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under law, including your statutory consumer rights.
09
Governing law and changes
These terms are governed by Swedish law, and disputes are handled by the Swedish courts — though we'd much rather sort things out over email first. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform. We may update these terms from time to time; the version on this page, with its effective date, is the one that applies. Changes won't affect orders already confirmed.
