Stacks of freshly printed Cardsmith business cards on a dark workbench, a brass ruler beside them, warm light catching the paper edges

About the studio

Two people, one press, and a strong opinion about paper.

Cardsmith is Reyna Okafor and Theo Lindqvist — printing business cards from Kungsgatan 12, Stockholm, since 2021.

01 — The story

We got tired of design software that overcomplicates a business card.

In 2021, Reyna was a brand designer spending her evenings setting other people's business cards by hand, and Theo was running a small digital press out of a shared workshop on Kungsgatan. The same problem kept landing on both of their benches: perfectly good businesses handing over cards that a bloated design tool — or a rushed template site — had quietly ruined.

A business card is one of the simplest printed objects there is. Seven fields, two typefaces, one piece of paper. It shouldn't require layers, artboards, or a subscription. So we built the tool we kept wishing existed: pick a layout, type your real details, watch the card update in front of you, and walk away with a print-ready file — or let us print the box ourselves.

Five years on, Cardsmith is still just the two of us. Every run is printed on the same 350gsm uncoated stock we chose in year one, and every sheet still gets checked by hand before it ships.

02 — The two of us

A designer and a printer, in that order.

No sales team, no support tier. If you email us, one of these two answers.

Reyna Okafor

Reyna designed the six Cardsmith layouts and the curated stock palette, and she's the reason you can't pick a colour pair that fails contrast. Before Cardsmith she spent eight years in brand studios in London and Stockholm, mostly undoing what template sites had done to small businesses' identities.

Theo Lindqvist

Theo runs the press, cuts every run, and wrote the export pipeline that turns your live preview into a full-bleed, CMYK-safe PDF. He's third-generation Stockholm print trade — his grandfather set metal type two blocks from where our workshop stands today.

03 — The craft

The tool is fast. The printing isn't.

Designing a card in Cardsmith takes about four minutes. What happens after you order is deliberately slower: one paper stock we trust, inks profiled to it, and a trim-and-inspect pass done by hand on every run.
